Job Summary
The Facilities Maintenance position is responsible for the overall physical appearance and upkeep of all Garcia companies under the supervision and direction of the maintenance supervisor.
Role / Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of commercial offices and other designated grounds.
- Perform repairs and conduct routine maintenance of facilities/properties to include but not limited to minor plumbing and electrical repairs, carpentry, painting, caulking, changing light bulbs and HVAC filters, etc.
- Conduct general landscaping activities to include but not limited to mowing, trimming bushes, pulling weeds, changing out mulch, flowers, and the landscaping as needed.
- Run work-related errands as necessary.
- Keep equipment, vehicles, tools, and general working areas clean and orderly.
- Work in a safe manner and recognize unsafe situations; take appropriate action to ensure safety of oneself and others inside and outside of company properties.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Experience / Skills Required
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Commercial property maintenance or construction-related experience.
- Self-motivated and highly independent with the ability to work effectively in a solo environment while also collaborating seamlessly with team members to complete projects efficiently.
- Basic skills/understanding of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, with the capability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs across facilities in South Florida.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary to support the full scope of responsibilities.
- Able to effectively prioritize responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate, professionally, in both oral and written format.
- Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License, a clean driving record, and a reliable mode of transportation.
Experience / Skills Desired
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Lift at least 50 lbs. regularly.
- Physically capable of performing hands-on tasks including moving large items and completing outdoor maintenance or improvement projects as needed.
- Willingness to travel off-site as needed to source or purchase materials and supplies required for ongoing projects.
- Operate various equipment.
- Endure continuous standing, walking, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing on a regular basis.
- Work outside in varied weather and heat conditions.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as certain deadlines and/or events are approaching.
