Job Summary
The Groundskeeper will perform landscaping tasks using power equipment and hand tools to maintain and ensure the facility’s grounds are kept in top condition for full and productive use.
Role / Responsibilities
- Mows lawns, trims weeds, and rakes leaves as assigned.
- Picks up and removes trash prior to mowing a designated area.
- Trims bushes, shrubs, and hedges.
- Prepares soil and plants flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs.
- Plants trees and prunes them when necessary.
- Cuts and removes trees as needed.
- Performs and prepares the application of fertilizer, pesticides, and herbicides as directed.
- Performs routine maintenance on grounds equipment including record of all maintenance performed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Experience / Skills Required
- Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment.
- Ability to read chemical labels.
- Ability to read material safety data sheets (MSDS).
- Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.
- Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Experience / Skills Desired
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous groundskeeping experience preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Prolonged periods of walking, standing, lifting, carrying, bending, turning, reaching, stretching, pushing, pulling, crawling, climbing ladders, stooping, and kneeling.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be physically able to operate power equipment and drive a mechanical vehicle.
- Must be able to work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions year-round.
