Accounting Clerk

Job Summary

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for assisting the full-charge bookkeeper with multi-company accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, and general ledger accounting functions.

Role / Responsibilities

  • Heavy data entry into accounting system.
  • Invoice filing.
  • Substantial processing of accounts payable from entry to check payment.
  • Process accounts receivables from entry to collection.
  • Reconcile cash account to bank statement.
  • Reconcile monthly credit card statements.
  • Process payroll new hires and biweekly time entry to 3rd party payroll processor.
  • Make deposits for the SIMPLE Retirement Account Plan.
  • Prepare Excel sheets as necessary for tracking operational information.
  • Assist receptionist as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the accounting department.

Experience / Skills Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus (2) or more years previous experience.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize among competing responsibilities.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Acts with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.

Experience / Skills Desired

  • Associate degree in accounting or higher.
  • Job costing experience a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of Office 365 – Microsoft SharePoint and/or ability to learn quickly.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
